Burlap Peacock Wreath

Mom and I spent a few hours making this wreath and her wreath.  Mom bought burlap fabric from a local fabric store.  We cut the burlap into 4x4 squares.  I think we cut out 250 squares.  There was a mess on the floor from the burlap.  We actually used a foam pipe from Lowes to make the wreath form.  We just cut the foam in half and taped it with Duck Tape.  Then we wrapped the form with burlap to hide the gray.  We made "bubbles" with the squares by tucking two opposite sides inward (and doing the same to the other sides).  To secure the bubbles to the wreath form we used 100 pearl head pins (from Walmart).  When I was finished, I attached peacock feathers to the wreath with hot glue.  I also hot glued a letter "E" that I painted to match the peacock feathers.

Flower beds

This is the first flower bed my husband made for me.  It had mums and impatiens.  Now I have Cala lilies, Rain lilies, Asiatic lilies, Gerbera daisies, Gaura, and Phlox in these beds.  I also plant tulips for the spring.

This is the flowerbed my dad built for me last summer.  This was taken a few days ago.  The daffodils are in bloom!  In the summer gladiolus grow tall against my home's exterior.

Baby Shower centerpieces

This is the diaper cake I made for my nephew, Hunter in 2008.  It has a frog puppet on the top.

This is the back of the diaper cake.

This is my first diaper cake.  It isn't as elaborate as the others but it was my first one.  I made this one for my best friend, Tiffany's baby in 2007.

Mom and I made this bubble bath for my baby cousin a few years ago.  We used silver/white balloons to make the bubbles.  It was difficult to tape the ducks on top.  I think we could have found a better way to secure them.  This did turn out cute though.

Baby shower cake pops

I
Cake pops for my brother and his wife's baby shower.  They're a little messy but they're great!  I used the Baby Cakes pop maker and the Baby Cakes recipe book.  I think I used the vanilla recipe.

Christmas decor 2011

This is my Gossip Girl inspired wreath.  This one is inspired from the Victoria's Secret themed "Roman Holiday" episode.  I found my ornaments and ribbon at K-Mart.  I found my magnolia and wreath at either Michaels or AC Moore.  It's actually a lot more sparkly in person.

I made these from large plastic ornaments (Walmart) and vinyl lettering from Uppercase Living.  I also have a Cricut that I've made another set of these from using one of the Christmas cartridges.  I didn't have a fireplace so I hung them under the bar.

This is my Christmas tree from 2011.  I love to put Buffalo Snow into my trees to make it look like snow.  I got this idea from the White House trees during Laura Bush's time in the White House.  I also used the big (I think C7) colored lights from Sams Club.  I always thought I'd only like white lights.  I love the new colored lights that are out.  We buy an ornament at each destination we visit.  I now have ornaments from Hawaii, Las Vegas, Washington, D.C., Jekyll Island, and a few more that are more local.

Halloween and Fall wreaths

This is my 2011 Halloween wreath.  I used an embroidery hoop at the wreath form.  It's been a while since I made this so I'm not sure how long I cut the tulle.  I cut it into strips and tied them onto the hoop.  I chose a fall ribbon and tied it to hang the wreath.  I am going to add my initial and a sparkly spider I bought for next year.

I made this cornhusk wreath in the winter of 2011.  I am planning on using it sometime around the summer/fall.  To make this wreath I cut the cornhusks into strips and soaked them in water until they were pliable enough to work with.  I then took U hooks to pin them into a straw wreath form.   This was very time consuming.  I think the next one I do will be dyed magenta.  :-D

Fall decorations 2011

This is the sunflower wreath I made for summer/fall.  This is one I made to sell.

This is another fall wreath I made to sell.  I sold this one last year.

I made this one all for me.  Mom bought two  foam pumpkins (from Michaels).  We each made our own versions of this.  I used an wire cutter to cut a few bushels of artificial flowers to the size I wanted.  I actually just stuck them into the pumpkin.  Mom cut the top off hers and stuck flowers down.  Either way will work fine.

Summer tablescape 2011

This was my summer tablescape from 2011.  I love putting sand into vases and hurricanes.  The shells on the right were bought at Michaels.  I believe I bought the sand and hurricane at Michaels as well.  The shells on the left were from the beach.  I bought the battery powered candles at a local home store.

I love decorating my dining table.  I purchased my tablecloths and napkins at Kohls a few years ago.  These are my everyday tablecloths when I don't have a seasonal set.  I purchased the fish salt and pepper shakers from Celebrating Home (formally known as Home Interior).
